Safe Sex?
The AIDS virus is 450 times smaller than a sperm and can travel through
semi-permeable substances such as condoms. C.M. Roland, Editor of Rubber
Chemistry and Technology, notes " The AIDs virus is only .1 micron in
size...50 times smaller than the voids (holes) in rubber... the virus can
readily pass through the condom.
A Louis poll found that 90 percent of teens admitted they had become
promiscuous simply because of perceived peer pressure. Eight percent felt
they had been drawn into sex too soon.
Poll after poll is finding the most important question for teens is how
to say "no" to sex without hurting their partner's feelings.
Most teens are not comfortable with premarital sex.
A recent analysis of HIV transmission studies by Dr. Susan Weller
indicates that condoms are only about 69 percent effective in preventing
heterosexual transmission of the virus.
Many teens haven't heard of renewed virginity because "safe
sex" promoters don't think it's possible to stop having sex.
The "pill" and the "shot" provide NO protection
against STDs, and about 18 percent of teens using the "pill"
will still get pregnant within one year.
The Los Angeles Times reported "four of the Nation's most popular
condom brands permitted the AIDS virus to escape in lab test, prompting
researchers to warn users not to assume ...condoms work... in preventing
the spread of the disease.
Some STDs are spread skin-to-skin contact, not only by body fluids
caught in a condom.
One in three of our teens who has sex will graduate from high school
with a STD. As many as sixty percent of school populations are infected
with serious infectious diseases.
AIDS cases among teens and young adults increased 77 percent..9000
cases of Aids have been reported among 13-24 year olds with thousands more
readily infected with HIV. |
